Cocktails for a Cause ~ Benefiting AIDS Service Foundation of OC

OC Weekly’s monthly charity event takes place Thursday, April 21st at Ibiza Nightclub in Huntington Beach with proceeds benefiting the AIDS Walk Orange County/AIDS Service Foundation Orange County.

AIDS Services Foundation Orange County’s mission is to prevent the spread of HIV and improve the lives of men, women, and children affected by HIV/AIDS in Orange County.

With a suggested $10 donation, attendees will be able to enjoy selected complimentary cocktails and beer. Every attendee with be entered into our monthly raffle for a chance to win a variety of prizes! FLOC with Cystic Fibrosis

FLOC’s June meeting will be filled with hope as we learn about the continued fight to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. Errica Cook from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will be speaking to FLOC members about the effort to cure the disease and the ongoing work to assist people living with the illness. The Renaissance Club Sport in Aliso Viejo will be the host for the event providing the perfect location for networking, learning and getting involved! FLOC to Mex. Orphanage

FLOC will be heading south of the border on Saturday June 5th to spend the day with the children from Casa de Paz Orphanage. We learned about this orphanage (located in Ensenada) and others from Hilda Pacheco-Taylor, Executive Director of Corazon de Vida, at our May FLOC meeting. To sign-up for this one day visit to Casa de Paz please RSVP to our volunteer coordinator Jackie at Jackie.leeman@futureleadersoc.org Here are the trip details: Price: $45 non-members, $40 Basic Members, $30 Professional and Charter Members Price covers a light breakfast, lunch for all the children at the orphanage, vehicle rental and gas. (You can pay the morning of the trip on May 5th) Schedule: 6:15 AM - Meet at FLOC headquarters 24561 Harbor View Dr. #D, Dana Point 6:30 AM – Depart for Mexico 10:30 AM – Arrive at Corazon de Paz in Ensenada 10:30 AM – 3:30PM – Spend the day with the children (Playing games, cooking lunch, assisting with medical services, cleaning the facility, etc…) 3:30PM – Depart Corazon de Paz 8:00PM-9:00PM – Return to Dana Point (Time varies depending on the line at the border) What to bring: 1. PCRF Half Marathon!! FLOC Volunteers

The PCRF Half Marathon “Reaching for the Cure” is almost here!! If you remember, FLOC met with PCRF in January to hear all about the organization’s mission to bring a cure to cancer. Now is our chance to help PCRF by volunteering and/or participating in their largest fundraiser of the year. The Mayor of San Clemente, Lori Donchak, spoke to the Floc at the Cellar in San Clemente. She talked about the city of San Clemente and how young adults can get involved in making the city better. FLOC members had a very good time volunteering at the Ocean Festival in conjunction with other volunteers!
